The Five Senses of Country

For those of us who are privileged to have all 5 Senses, we are able to enjoy what God has put on earth for us...

For those of us who were raised "Country", we were even more priviltged to enjoy the "finer" things in life.  Some of these things only a few of us can remember. For the others, you just had to be there.
Country Scents:
Saddle leather, Honeysuckle, a new puppy, the pig pen, fresh hay, the river, tractor grease, campfire smoke and a skunk.
Country Sounds;;
The screen door closing, milk hitting the bottom of the bucket, sheets flapping in the wind, a pop gun, the wind through the trees, chalk going across a chalkboard and giggling.
Country Sights:
Lightning Bugs, Dad calling the cattle in, Alligator gars hitting the top of the water, Funny shaped clouds, a new born calf standing for the first time. Nothing but stars above you, Cotton in the fields and boys with Dr. Pepper T-Shirts.
Country Touches:
The pull of the river's current against your legs, the sting of a Bull Nettle,  picking cotton,  the bare back of a horse, getting swatted in the face by a milk cow, blisters from pulling corn,  the reins of a horse in you hands and a marble between you thumb and big finger.
Country Tastes:
Raw milk, mustang grapes, homemade butter, river water, pecans straight from the tree, gravy & bread for breakfast, corn you picked that morning and cool-aid the old way...

These are things that have gone with time for many of us or they are not around us anymore.  But... that doesn't mean that if we close our eyes... They are all  still there.

Johnny...
