A Old Cowboy's Thanksgiving Prayer...

Well Lord.... What can I say, it's been a pretty good year so far..

Sure got a lot of things to be thankful for..

To start with... My Better Half.. Is Still My Better Half..

We've had some good rains... so looks like there's going to be enough hay for the winter...

I've still got a good Working Hat and a nice going to Church Hat, and I've got a place to hang both of them..

This old body of mine is still in pretty good shape... just a twing or 2 every once in a while, nothing a little horse liniment won't take care of....

All the fences are up and in good shape...

Nobody ran off with any of the cattle, even got a few added to the herd, thanks to the new bull I was able to get....

My horse has still got a few years in him as long as he stays away from the gopher holes...

Oh yea... got a letter from my son the other day... He says he's going to be home from that damn war soon... Thanks for keeping an eye on him for us....

Take care of those who came up to you this year Lord.. We sure do miss them.. but their in a better place for sure..

Most of all... I'm thankful that I've got you on my side Lord... Can't get much luckier then that...

Happy Thanksgiving Lord.. If anyone deserves it.. It's you...

What you see here happens... More often then what you would ever imagine...

As a Safety Trainer, Operations Director and General Manager for Durham Transportation and The Texas Schools for the Deaf back in Texas I had to respond to scenes like or similar to this....

So many lives are impacted when such a senseless act of unsafe driving happens when School Buses are involved in Traffic Accidents,

So many times the driver of the Bus was/were tried to be laid to blame... YOUR DAMN BUS DRIVER.. DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE... I heard that so many time.... Rest assured, If that driver had not completed a thorough training program, passed a Commercial Driving Test given by the state which they are expected to drive in they would not have been behind the wheel of that bus...

Keep in mind, if you will, when you see a School Bus driving down the road, try to remember that the driver of that Bus is not only making sure that they are driving that bus SAFELY. but they are doing it while controlling up to 71 KIDS who have been penned up in a classroom for the last 6 to 7 hours and have now been set FREE. AND THE DRIVER IS DOING SO VIA A MIRROR ABOVE THEIR HEAD WHILE DRIVING!!!!.. That's Kids from the age of 4 to the age of 18 MIXED.

So next time you see a School Bus on the road... IMAGINE YOURSELF AS THAT DRIVER.... AND GIVE THEM THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE.... BECAUSE... I JUST ABOUT BET YOU WOULDN'T EVEN DARE THINKING ABOUT HAVING THAT JOB!!!!

It Comes With The Territory

The Story Continues....

Yesterday, while sitting in a Clinic Lobby waiting for Syl to come out I noticed a Mother and her small 2 year old girl come in. The little one went directly to the Butterfly wall and stood looking at it. After sitting down for only a minute or so she was up and running around testing every seat in the house and playing while "Mom" sat watching her... Everyone thought she was so cute... for about 10 minutes then her "cuteness" started wearing off and "Mom" tried to corral her to no avail.

Finally, I got up and walked over to the Butterfly Wall and took a taped butterfly and put it in my pocket then returned to my seat just a few away from Mom and Daughter.

I got their attention and asked the little girl, "Hey you want to see what I have?" pulling the butterfly from pocket......

The mother smile and told her "Go see what he has."

The little one shyfully crept close and I asked her to put out her finger, which she did and I placed the butterfly on the tip of her index finger and said. "But you have to be quiet or it will fly away." holding my finger to my lips....shhhhh"

The little girl's eyes widen as she looked at "her" butterfly then at the butterfly wall....

Then she quietly walked around the room showing everyone her butterfly but each time putting her finger to her lips and going "shhhhhhhh.... mine." with a big smile...

The Mother watched in amazement then turned to me and said... "You.. must be a Grandfather?"

My reply..." Actually a Grandfather and Great Grandfather.. it comes with the territory."

Life is too short not to live to the fullest....
